Vivendi announces the official game of the upcoming film.

BY DAVID ADAMS The game-from-film thing is rife these days, but this isn't necessarily a bad thing, especially when a movie seems as ready for a game tie-in as Twentieth Century Fox's upcoming Robots. Today, VU Games announced the Robots game, in development by Eurocom for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, Game Boy Advance, and PC. The title is scheduled for release along with the film in March.

Players take the role of the film's hero, Rodney Copperbottom, and must fight to stop an evil tyrant from doing, well, what all evil tyrants try to do. Robots will put players directly in the world of the film by using many of the same art and character model assets used in the production of the film. We've posted a few first screens to give you an idea of the game's look so far.

"We are thrilled to partner again with the talented team at Twentieth Century Fox to extend what is sure to be a blockbuster movie event into a highly interactive and vibrant game experience for Robots fans of all ages," said Philip O'Neil, President, Vivendi Universal Games. "The collaboration will result in an exciting and graphically brilliant game that integrates the best elements of this CGI-animated feature with 3D action/adventure gameplay."

Full details on the game are scarce right now, but we'll keep you updated with more information as soon as it comes in. Stay tuned.
