Running Space Quest 6 on modern systems
Space Quest 6 is best run under DOSBox. If you are unfamiliar with DOSBox, you can use this automatic installer from SierraHelp.
Game crashes when using DNA decoder
When using the DNA cartridge on the Compost, the game crashes. There are several ways to avoid this:
1) reduce the DOSBox cycles (F11), use the cartridge on the Compost, and increase the cycles again (F12).
2) or use the patch from NewRisingSun (see below)

This patch fixes:
- Non-responsive Endodroid Runner/Elmo Pug
- Using datacard in ComPost
Before installing the patch, make sure you don't save the game while on the streets of Polysorbate LX or in the sickbay. Go to another area (inside a Polysorbate LX building or another area on the ship), save the game, and then install the patch.
