Manually saving and keeping save positions
King's Quest Chapter 1 frequently auto-saves as you progress and has no built-in save positions. As a result you'll have to replay the game over and over again to find out all the paths and conversations points. However, you can get around that, save manually and keep the save positions permanently.
1) Go to Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\King's Quest\Binaries\Win
2) create a folder (eg. \SAVE)
3) each time you want to save the game (for example before choosing your path), copy paste the file KQSave from the Win folder to the new folder.
4) feel free to rename the backup save file (eg. "eyepath") so you know which one is which.
5) to restore one of the saved files, exit the game, copy-paste the desired save file to the Win folder and rename it back to KQSAVE (overwriting the existing one - make sure to back that up if you don't want to lose your latest progress), start the game again et voila.
