The Silver Lining is the unofficial fan-made ending to the King's Quest series. Developed over 8 years and managing to reverse two cease and desist orders by Vivendi Games and Activision-Blizzard, Phoenix Online Studios finally released its first episode on July 10 2010.

On Alexander's and Rosella's 21st birthday, Rosella marries her long love, Edgar, on the Land of the Green Isles. Before the marriage is completed, a wizard in a black cloak appears, and puts a spell on Alexander and Rosella. Not knowing what has happened, King Graham switches his crown for his adventure cap, and seeks the advice of the Oracle on the Isle of the Sacred Mountain.

The Silver Lining consists of 5 episodes, of which so far four have been released. The fifth episode is expected to be released in late 2017.

Without the bravery and persistence of these volunteers, it is almost certain that King's Quest would have been relegated to a forgotten obscurity - its story left untold.
