Larry reference
In the SCI release, type in a swear word (Such as the 'F' word) and the game will mention Leisure Suit Larry. In the AGI release the response is "You were raised better than that!"
After defeating Lolotte, go to the corridor with the door to the prison cell and type "beam me". Rosella will beam to a spaceship where the KQ4 programmers are. You can look at them and talk to them.
Also go back into your prison cell and type "rap kq" near the center of the room. Note: In the SCI version it is not possible to re-enter the prison cell.
While in the whale's mouth, take the bottle, get the note and read it several times for references to various Sierra games. The references are:
- Help! The girls in "Leisure-Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards" are mighty uncooperative. Give me some help here, guys!
- I see a beautiful mermaid in "King's Quest II," but she won't help me! Tell me what to do!
- Anybody out there! I had a condor drop this bottle in the nearest ocean to beg for help with "King's Quest I." Help me fight this fire-breathing dragon!
- Help! I'm about to get blasted by evil Sariens in "Space Quest!" Anybody have a handy ray gun out there?!
- Sludge Vohaul is holding me prisoner in "Space Quest II!" Help me out of this jam!
- Drug dealers are terrorizing the city of Lytton! I need a partner to help put away these bad guys in "Police Quest!"
- Hey, I need help here! The wicked Horned King has had me thrown into his dungeon! If I don't get out of here, then evil will rule the world in "The Black Cauldron!"
- Help me! I'm lost at sea in "King's Quest III!" I'm with a bunch of nasty pirates who want to feed me to the sharks! If you can, come quick!
- I'm a little kid, and my name's Tommy. I'm having trouble with Old King Cole and Humpty Dumpty in "Mixed-Up Mother Goose!" Come and help me!
- Oh, no! Help me!! I'm stranded on an airplane with a guy named Ken, being chased by the KGB and an evil army of henchettes, former church secretaries, game show hostesses, and bimbos. Buy "Leisure Suit Larry Goes Looking For Love (in Several Wrong Places.)"
In the pawnshop, look at the items on the shelf next to the bear. You will find:
- "a hull-hole detector for finding those hard-to-spot holes in small sailboats", referring to the sailboat in King's Quest V.
- "cat-cookie mix.", referring to King's Quest III.
- "a golden bridle finder, for those nearly-invisible golden bridles", referring to King's Quest IV.
- "self-adhesive emeralds, what you use when you don't have honey", referring to King's Quest V.
- "tongue climbing gear, testd on over one hundred whale tongues", referring to King's Quest IV.
- "a uvula tickler", again referring to King's Quest IV.
- a Cheese hook, for retrieving cheese out of small holes", referring to King's Quest V.
- "a shovel that's guaranteed not to break for over one-hundred grave diggings", referring to King's Quest IV.
- "a bridge repair kit, for when you've crossed a bridge one too many times", referring to King's Quest II.
- "stair traction pads: stop slipping off those narrow staircases", referring to multiple previous King's Quest games.
Many of the items in Erasmus' entrance hall are props of other Sierra games:
- the airplane refers to Lytton PD from Police Quest
- the coffin could refer to Dracula's coffin in King's Quest 2
- the sarcophagus refers to the mummy's sarcophagus in King's Quest 4 (and pictures Rosella as a hieroglyph, see image below).
- the peacock on the table also refers to King's Quest 4
- the suit of armor refers to Laura Bow: The colonel's Bequest
- the shield refers to Conquests of Camelot
- the onklunk refers to Leisure Suit Larry 2
In the death scene where Sonny gets locked up after randomly shooting around, there is also a picture of king Graham of King's Quest IV in the newspaper.
Many barbers in Larry 2, 5 all together, but the one at the airport surely has ended up in the wrong game series. Never trust princess Rosella of King's Quest IV to give you a haircut. SHE is supposed to have the nicest long blond hair, not Larry (duh!)
At the end of the game, Larry and Patti end up in the studio of Sierra Online. After passing the set of Police Quest, a room with gadgets (referring to the Black Cauldron, Manhunter, Larry 1 and other Sierra titles), and the Space Quest set, they meet Roberta Williams who is shooting the whale tongue scene of King's Quest IV.
At the Sierra studio, Larry and Patti walk into a prop room with many game references:
- The Black Cauldron
- King's Quest 4
- The taxi of Leisure Suit Larry 1
- The insurance agents of Space Quest 2
- targets of Police Quest 1
- Clothes of Manhunter: New York
- The "M" from Monolith Burger in Space Quest 3.
In the preservation lab, Vat 14 contains King Edward of King's Quest (see also the listing of the vat contents on the desk of Ernie Leech). Vat 10 contains the unicorn from King's Quest 4. Vat 9 contains lemmings.
One of the directory's of the computer in homicide office is called Sierra. Access it to see files for King's Quest 1 through 4, Silpheed, Manhunter, Thexder, Gold Rush, Mother Goose, Space Quest 1 through 3, and Leisure Suit Larry 1 and 2. Selecting any of the titles will give a short description of the selected game.
At Kalalau's (your former) house type "LOOK GATE" for a reference to finials. Then type "LOOK FINIAL". The game will respond with "Yes, that is a big finial, all right! (It reminds you of a uvula!)". Then type "TICKLE FINIAL" and the game will respond "You've been playing King's Quest IV too long!", referring to Rosella tickling the whale's uvula with a feather.
