This is the first release of King's Quest, not to be confused with the second release which was released in almost the same plastic case in 1984. Unlike the second release, the first release comes with a full keyboard overlay and the year 1983 is printed both on the back of the case and on the 5.25" floppy. Because of the date, many believe King's Quest was first released in 1983, which is a myth. It was developed in late 1983, but only released in May 1984, after the release of the IBM PCJr, for which the game was built.
