Enter the tense, gritty, explosive world that is business as usual for SWAT. SWAT 4 gives you easy control over advanced strategic and tactical tools. Plan missions, deploy your team and take down dangerous criminals. But remember, SWAT is to serve and protect. Too many casualties and you fail the mission.

In SWAT 4 you can play the single-player career mode, equipping each of your team members with their own weapons and tactical tools, and command your team through 13 missions. You'll be confronted with rescuing a kidnapped girl from an insane child murderer, eliminating an imminent threat from a sect deciding to blow up a city block, apprehending suspects trying to rob a diamond center and many more scenarios. Each mission has different conditions, enemies, environment and objectives, so chose your gear and tactics wisely. You may also play online and play one of the four different game types, playing as either SWAT officer or suspect, using larger and new maps, as well as additional weapons normally not used by SWAT officers. You may also create, play and share your own custom missions with the quick mission maker.

SWAT 4 was the first SWAT game not created by Sierra On-Line itself, but by Irrational Games, which also developed titles such as Tribes: Vengeance. They also developed an expansion pack for SWAT 4, The Stetchkov Syndicate, adding new single-player missions, weapons, a new multiplayer mode and other new features.
