Playtoons 3: The Secret of the Castle

General

The Playtoons series combines an interactive story that is unique to each Playtoons title and a construction game common to the entire collection.

As in a traditional comic strip or cartoon for children, the collection proposes a series of imaginative journeys. The child reads, listens and becomes drawn into a script that will make them tremble with excitement or burst out laughing. The player can set off animations full of surprises and emotions from each screen.

Inspired by the interactive story, the player can then create his own animated story with the construction game. You can create up to 20 scenes set their sceneries, objects and characters, and have the characters interact with the objects. The construction game is universal, so the more Playtoons titles and Creator Kit add-ons you install, the larger the range of sceneries, objects and characters you have at your disposal. You can even create your own animated film with voice overs with the built-in camera function!
Even though the construction games are universal, Uncle Archibald has a specific construction kit add-on, titled Monsters.

The interactive story of The Secret of the castle on the other hand is unique for this release. It is also the first Playtoons title that implements construction kit backgrounds, items, characters and animations in some of its story panels.

Long before it was discovered that the earth was round, good king Hector reigned over the kingdom of Avalon. The king, queen Eleanor, and their children Arthur and Marianne lived in the highest tower of Pentragorn castle. The knights of Pentragorn stood guard, protecting them from barbarian invasions. Although Arthur often tried talking to the knights, they just looked at him silently, before continuing on their way.

One evening, when all were fast asleep, Arthur's curiosity led him to the knights' chamber. Arthur quietly opened the heavy door to the chamber. All the knights were there, statue-like and silent as ever. That same night, Arthur discovers a secret passageway to a great hall. Arthur could just see two shadows, opposite each other: one of them was a knight, the other was the king himself. Suddenly the king seemed to stick both of his arms right into the knight's stomach! Overcome with fear, Arthur rushed up the stairs, ran into his bedroom and dove under his bed.

The next day his father explained him everything: the knights are none other than a very strong ingenious mechanical devices. As the kingdom has been attacked by hordes of barbarians, their ancestor, Allosius the Ingenious, tried to find a way to avoid losing his brave knights in the terrible fighting and created mechanical knight, but he died before he could complete them. Now the king continues Allosius' work.

Just as Arthur has learned the secret of the castle, a vast army of barbarians attack the castle...
