Playtoons 2: The Case of the Counterfeit Collaborator

General

The Playtoons series combines an interactive story that is unique to each Playtoons title and a construction game common to the entire collection.

As in a traditional comic strip or cartoon for children, the collection proposes a series of imaginative journeys. The child reads, listens and becomes drawn into a script that will make them tremble with excitement or burst out laughing. The player can set off animations full of surprises and emotions from each screen.

Inspired by the interactive story, the player can then create his own animated story with the construction game. You can create up to 20 scenes set their sceneries, objects and characters, and have the characters interact with the objects. The construction game is universal, so the more Playtoons titles and Creator Kit add-ons you install, the larger the range of sceneries, objects and characters you have at your disposal. You can even create your own animated film with voice overs with the built-in camera function!

The interactive story of Playtoons 2 on the other hand is unique for this release. The Case of the Counterfeit Collaborator is effectively the same as the cartoon of "Spirou Episode 18: Micmac In Champignac" (1993). It uses the same story, same voice actors, same art and animations. The only difference is that The Case of the Counterfeit Collaborator also contains interactive screens. Some of the animations in the interactive screens are created by the game developer while others are scenes that are also taken from the original cartoon.

Spirou receives a call in the middle of the night from his friend and crazy old inventor, the count of Champignac. Then the count makes a piercing yell and no longer answered the phone. Fearing something has happened to the count, Spirou and his pet squirrel Spip, pick up his friend and partner, Fantasio and drive all night to Champignac, much to the displeasure of Fantasio who has a severe head cold and believes the count is just pulling another prank.

Upon arrival at the count's castle (and after a little mishap with the count's latest invention), the count explains what the urgent mission is about: 15 years ago, his colleagues and him swore a solemn oath to dedicate part of their work to a strictly humanitarian cause: relieving world hunger. They arranged to meet secretly at Champignac 15 years later to reveal the results of their labors, which is today.

However, yesterday he received a warning from Interpol that an imposter might slip in among his colleagues. A spy working for a huge international food corporation seeking to use their discoveries for its own profit. That's why he decided to call on the two people he trusts the most to find out who the imposter is.

As his colleagues arrive, the Count introduces them and places the plans of their inventions in a wall safe. After an eventful evening and nice dinner they all go to sleep, preparing for the big day tomorrow. That night, footsteps can be heard in the attic but no intruder is found. The following morning, the wall safe is found opened, and empty...
