Jim went to Grant High School and then got his B.A. degree in Theater Arts at UCLA in 1980.

His first job was a Universal Studios Tour Guide. With his background in imitating voices and dialects for years using a tape recorder, while still working at Universal Studios, Jim was asked to be the voice of William Daniels hiding inside the Kitt Car from the series Knight Rider and amusing and sometimes scaring children that a Car was talking to them. His voice over career began shortly after this gig and he has remained a integral part of the voice over community since that time.

He starred in Ratchet & Clank, The Movie in 2016, reprising his popular character Capt. Qwark from the popular video game series.
